Harwood Enterprises, Inc., is a Montana family-owned agricultural weed control business. I have over 40 years of experience in production agriculture, licensed professional weed control (MT #100621-12), natural resource management, and vocational agriculture education. As a farmer and rancher, I appreciate pride of ownership, love of the land, wise stewardship, and the rural way of life.

It is important to remember that unwanted, introduced noxious weeds have invaded over 8.4 million acres of Montana’s rangeland and cropland. Left uncontrolled, these exotic plants are capable of outcompeting native plants. These weeds displace key species and interrupt the natural ecological process of plant succession. When native plant communities are damaged, range condition deteriorates. Soil erosion increases, livestock stocking rates decrease, wildlife habitat is destroyed, and property values decrease.

We didn’t ask for these invasive plants or the problems that they cause; however, it is our responsibility to be wise stewards of the natural resources that have been entrusted to us.
